MY EDUCATION
I completed my Psychology Bachelor’s degree from the University of St. Thomas and received my Master’s degree from the University of Houston, Clear Lake. I was born in Mexico City and I am fluent in English and Spanish.
I have gained invaluable knowledge and experience as a therapist during my work at the Houston-Galveston Institute, The Family Enrichment Clinic, and The Couple Zone, I am currently in private practice.
I am a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT), the Texas Association of Marriage and Family Therapy(TAMFT), the Houston Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (HAMFT), and the International Centre For Excellence In Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT).
As a therapist, I continue to be involved in improving my skills in order to continue to help my clients.
APPROACH
My therapeutic approach is client-centered, collaborative, and culturally sensitive. I am an inclusive, affirmative and celebratory therapist and my passions and specialties are in working with clients of diverse ethnic backgrounds, age, as well as gender. I work with children, teenagers, individuals, couples and families.
I believe that my clients are the experts in their life circumstances. My goal as a therapist, is not to dictate treatment, but to embrace my client’s personal values, desires, needs, and goals with love and respect to help them reach their desired outcomes.
SPECIALTIES
I offer a unique method of collaborative counseling, I love working with children, teenagers, individual female and male clients, as well as couples, families and communities of all socioeconomic backgrounds.
It is very important to me to keep my clients’ goals in the forefront, as a result, I work with clients to help them create small, specific, and manageable goals that can be easily accomplished and recognized. Through this approach, I help my clients find new solutions and the strength to endure challenges and overcome obstacles.
I am trained in Emotionally Focused Couple’s Therapy (EFCT), Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), and Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT).
A certification in MindBody therapy helps me in using the body as a way of deepening the work I do with my clients.
Being trained as a Parenting Coordinator, helps me work with families in an impartial way in order to reduce conflict and help improve communication skills. My role as a Parenting Coordinator is to empower parents and work in the best interest of their child(ren).
I am certified as a Sleep Coach and as a Bringing Baby Home educator, as a result, I am able to help couples through the transition into parenting.
A certification as an Emotion Code practitioner is a modality that I can use when clients are interested in releasing unconscious trapped emotions from their body by using applied kinesiology.
BILINGUAL
I am a fully bilingual therapist helping the Spanish and English-speaking community in Houston Texas. Being a bilingual therapist has also helped me in conducting bilingual sessions with families, couples, individuals, and children.
